Tweak Your Skincare Routine for the Seasons Change

Cooler weather is coming, and with the weather changes, your skincare routine might also need to make some adjustments. With change in temperature also comes lower humidity, cooler air, harsh winds, and dry indoor heat. These conditions can result in a compromised skin barrier that draws moisture away from your skin and can lead to dead skin buildup. If you want to protect your skin this season, keep reading...

1. More Hydration, More Hydration

When it is colder, your skin is more likely to experience dryness, irritation, and redness. Incorporating products that will help restore skin's external barrier and support natural self-repair is a must. If you are already using a heavier moisturizer and feeling the need for hydration support, you can add a humectant prior to applying your moisturizer that will help to bind moisture to the skin and promote the skin’s natural repair process.

*Suggested Products- Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 ; Hydrating B5 Gel 2. Add a facial mist to your routine With dryer skin often comes redness and irritation. Incorporating a hydrating facial mist that strengthens the skin’s barrier and reduces visible redness is a must. Not only will this help maintain your skin's PH balance but it will also help to provide extra moisture and calming benefits.

*Suggested Products- Phyto Corrective Mist 3. Start Retinol or bump up your dosage Hellooo! It is time to start correcting all the damage that was accumulated during the warmer months from the sun rays, heat, and humidity. If you have never used a retinol, now is the perfect time. The UV Index peaks during spring/summer months which means starting a retinol in the cooler months will make the transition a little easier. (SPF everyday is still needed) If you are already a consistent user of retinol, now is also the perfect time to increase your daily retinol usage or bump up to a stronger percentage.

*Suggested Products- Retinol .3 ; .5 ; 1.0 4. Apply Hydrating Masks (take at home pampering seriously) Picture this- your snuggled up on the sofa watching your favorite fall Netflix series with your cozy socks drinking a homemade hotty toddy all while wearing your favorite hydrating facial mask. Sounds like the perfect evening to me! Often, our skin needs that extra bit of self care after being stripped of moisture and blasted from cold air. Using a hydrating facial mask 2-3 nights a week will help to heal the skin by restoring its barrier function.

*Suggested Products- Hydrating B5 Mask ; Phyto Corrective Mask ; Biocellulose Mask 5. Focus on areas of your face with thinner skin; eyes & lips Our lips & eyes are the most delicate areas of our skin. You may notice in the next few weeks your lips become chapped or that your eyes feel dryer than usual. Our lips lack oil glands therefore the cold air & lack of moisture in the air may require the need to replenish our lip tissue. The delicate eye area with thinner skin than the rest of the skin may struggle in the cooler months. Applying a silky eye cream morning and night to immediately improve radiance will solve the problem.

*Suggested Products- AGE Advanced Eye, AOX Eye Gel
