Why 1 Syringe of Filler May Not Be Enough.
Updated: Apr 19
As we age, we experience bone resorption (shrinking) and volume loss of the deep and superficial fat pads of the face. This volume we lose is important in many of the indicators of youth, attractiveness and symmetry. With hyaluronic acid fillers, we are able to replace this lost volume with the aim of re-creating the facial fat distribution of youth. While one syringe of filler may sound like entirely too much, we must remember that the volume of one syringe is merely 1/5 of a teaspoon. If you’re a patient of mine you’ve also heard me compare the volume in one syringe of filler to an organic, non-GMO blueberry.
Therefore, if our goal in natural facial rejuvenation is to replace lost volume throughout the face (as we do not only age in just one area alone), we generally need more than the equivalent of one blueberry to do so.
